Thursday, October 14, 1999 Murray knows Chartrand wellLOS ANGELES (CP) -- At the age of 24, Brad Chartrand has finally made it to the NHL. He's the Los Angeles Kings' fourth-line centre.Chartrand, a Winnipeg native, played at Cornell University for four years and for new Kings coach Andy Murray for two years on the Canadian national team based in Calgary. "He really hasn't shown me anything I haven't seen before," Murray told the Los Angeles Times. "When you're on a national team, you live together for nine months and you get to know people." Chartrand was a free agent when he signed with the Kings last July. Last season, he had 30 points, including 16 goals, with St. John's in the AHL. "I consider myself having three years' experience at playing pro-type hockey," Chartrand said. "I think those two years with the national team helped me with my skills coming out of college."
