    Brisebois, Brunet making progress

MONTREAL (CP) -- Patrice Brisebois and Benoit Brunet could be back in the lineup as early as Tuesday when the Canadiens play the Flames.

Back injuries have kept both players on the sidelines since the season began, but coach Alain Vigneault says that they have been making progress in practice.

"They've had four practices with us and they're looking good," Vigneault told the Montreal Gazette.

While the coach noted that factors such as timing and endurance come into play, he said Brisebois and Brunet have an advantage because they both have good hockey sense.

"It's especially true for Bennie," said Vigneault. "He understands the game so well and when he steps on the ice, he can see everything as it happens."

Vigneault also noted that the oft-injured Brunet has experience coming back from lengthy layoffs.

"We have three games in the next four nights and, after those games, we'll start thinking about what we'll do next. But there's a good chance they could play Tuesday if they continue to make progress."
