    Habs demote Higgins

     MONTREAL (AP) -- The Montreal Canadiens sent forward Matt Higgins to their AHL farm team in Quebec City.

     The 6-foot-2, 188-pound Higgins had two assists in 23 games for Montreal this season.

     Higgins was Montreal's first-round pick, 18th overall, in the 1996 NHL entry draft. The Calgary native had 102 goals during his four-year junior career with the WHL's Moose Jaw Warriors.
