Monday, December 6, 1999 Habs give Ribeiro to juniorsMONTREAL (CP) -- The Montreal Canadiens have made centre Mike Ribeiro available for the Canadian junior hockey team's selection camp Dec. 12-17 in Kitchener, Ont.Ribeiro, the Canadian Hockey League's leading scorer last season with 67 goals and 100 assists with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, is the first confirmed of 10 juniors playing in pro league to be freed up for the Canadian team. The addition of Ribeiro, 19, brings the selection camp roster to 33, from which 22 players will be chosen to represent Canada at the world junior hockey championship in Sweden from Dec. 25 to Jan. 4. Ribeiro, a second-round pick of the Habs in 1998, has a goal and an assist in 19 games with the Canadiens. He has averaged almost 13 minutes a game with the Habs because of a rash of injuries to their front lines.
