Koivu to have exploratory surgery on shoulder
MONTREAL (AP) -- Montreal Canadiens forward Saku Koivu could be sidelined up to three months because of a shoulder injury.The Finnish star will have arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder Thursday to determine the extent of a small tear that was discovered Monday.
Koivu, who missed five games because of a shoulder sprain, re-injured the shoulder while taking a faceoff Saturday night against Atlanta -- his first game back after the injury.
Koivu has two goals and nine assists in 13 games this season.
