Canadiens complete minor trade with Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- The Tampa Bay Lightning obtained left-winger Gordie Dwyer from the Montreal Canadiens for defenceman Mike McBain in a swap Friday of minor league players.

Dwyer was Montreal's fifth choice, 152nd overall in the 1998 draft. He went pointless in nine games for the Quebec Citadelles of the American Hockey League in nine games this season.

McBain was chosen in the second round, 30th overall, by the Lightning in the 1995 draft. He appeared in 16 games for the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League this season, tallying only two assists.

Tampa Bay also claimed left-winger Pavel Torgaev on waivers from the Calgary Flames. Torgaev had two assists in nine games this season for the Flames.

The Lightning also placed defenceman Ian Herbers on injured reserve with a hand injury.
