Thursday, April 15, 1999 Bordeleau has neck surgeryNASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Nashville Predators center Sebastien Bordeleau underwent surgery Thursday for a cracked vertebra he suffered when he was checked by Los Angeles defenseman Sean O'Donnell.Bordeleau left Monday night's game after the first period complaining of neck pain. X-rays showed two vertebrae had been knocked out of alignment and he was taken by ambulance to Baptist Hospital, where further tests disclosed a fractured. Doctors said Bordeleau will be hospitalized for a couple of days. They didn't know how long he'd be off the ice. "We're going to have to have some discussions about some special risks of his return to play," Dr. Michael Pagnani said. "But we're optimistic that he will be able to if that's what he wants to do." Predators general manager David Poile would not comment on whether he thought O'Donnell's hit was illegal but said he has talked with NHL officials about it.
