Saturday, June 27, 1998 Flyers trade Roussel, Staples for draft pickPHILADEPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia Flyers traded goaltender Dominic Roussel and defenseman Jeff Staples to the Nashville Predators on Saturday in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the NHL Entry Draft.Roussel had a 19-8-0 record and 2.09 goals-against average in 30 games while on loan last season from the Canadian National Team. He has a 64-51-14 record and 3.19 GAA in 146 career NHL regular-season games over five seasons with the Flyers and the Winnipeg Jets. Staples had four goals and 16 assists for 20 points and 187 penalty minutes in 63 games for the Calder Cup champions Philadelphia Phantoms last season. He was scoreless in the playoff games. In 198 games with Flyers AHL affiliates Phantoms and the Hershey Bears in the last three seasons, Staples had 15 goals and 30 assists for 45 points and 444 penalty minutes.
