Tugnutt is giving bad knee long rest

By LISA BURKE -- Ottawa Sun

      - Ron Tugnutt remained off the ice for the third straight day since leaving midway through Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Tugnutt's status remains day-to-day and he is expected to make the trip to New Jersey.

     - Janne Laukkanen, Shawn McEachern and Kevin Dineen did not take part in yesterday's practice. Laukkanen is considered day-to-day with a sore shoulder, while McEachern and Dineen were given time off to rest sore bodies.

     - Joe Juneau continues to earn the praise of coach Jacques Martin, who feels the newly-signed winger is finally starting to come into his own as both a playmaker and potential scoring threat.

     - Sami Salo skated after practice yesterday afternoon with Daniel Alfredsson and Igor Kravchuk. Kravchuk says he feels ready to return for Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils. Salo will probably still be out for another two-to-three weeks.

Alfredsson doesn't feel his knee 100% just yet, but thinks he'll be ready by Dec. 11. "I don't want to push it," he said. "I want to make sure it's fully healed."
