Zamuner anxious for return to lineup

KANATA, Ont. (CP) -- Rob Zamuner is set to return tonight for the Senators when they host the New York Rangers.

The 30-year-old left-winger has missed the past five games with a groin injury.

The addition of Zamuner will have an immediate effect on the lineup. It's expected either Vaclav Prospal or Bruce Gardiner will get bumped to make room for Zamuner.

"I feel good, I gave it a good test Saturday and again today," Zamuner, who has scored two goals and two assists in 10 games, told the Ottawa Citizen. "It has been 10 days now and I originally thought it would maybe only be a couple of days. But it was best to be cautious. I wanted it fully healed. It's not something you want to screw around with."

Zamuner missed 24 games last season with the Tampa Bay Lightning due to groin problems but insists the injuries are unrelated.

The Senators boosted the blue-line on Tuesday with the signing of veteran Bobby Dollas. The 34-year-old, who played with Pittsburgh last season, was an unrestricted free agent.
