Sunday, October 24, 1999 Knee KO's Alfredsson 8-10 weeksThe news wasn't good. In fact, it was devastating. The Senators captain will be out of action for 8-10 weeks. He missed last night's game against Buffalo after hurting his right knee during Thursday's 4-1 victory over Colorado at the Corel Centre. Alfredsson' had the knee tested Friday night and yesterday to determine how long the injury would keep him out of the lineup. What started out the day as day-to-day injury status, became much worse, probably a worst-case scenario if you're coach Jacques Martin, who can ill afford to lose Alfredsson from the lineup. Alfredsson hurt the knee during the first period of Thursday's game when he missed a check along the boards on Avalanche rookie Alex Tanguay. Alfredsson left the ice and didn't return. The injury is yet another in a series which have hampered Alfredsson during his NHL career. Last season, he missed 23 games with various injuries. The previous year, he missed eight games with an ankle injury, and 13 more after breaking his right leg.
