Cup would represent true bonus to Juneau

KANATA, Ont. (CP) -- If the Ottawa Senators win the Stanley Cup next spring, newcomer Joe Juneau will receive an additional $400,000 US in bonuses from the team.
Juneau will be paid an extra stipend for every round of the playoffs the Senators successfully advance through: $50,000 for winning the Eastern Conference quarter-final; $100,000 for claiming the conference semifinal; $100,000 for winning the conference; and another $150,000 if the team ends up hoisting the Cup next June.
The figures are included in the contract which was filed with the National Hockey League players' association.
Juneau, who could make his Senators debut tonight at the Corel Centre against the Calgary Flames, agreed to a one-year contract with the team on Monday. He will be paid a base salary of $1.7 million US, but he could earn as much as $2.2 million if he passes the 65-point plateau.
