Monday, March 6, 2000 Flames acquire BureauCALGARY (CP) -- The Calgary Flames acquired veteran centre Marc Bureau from the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday in exchange for left-winger Travis Brigley and a sixth-round choice in the 2001 NHL amateur entry draft.Bureau, a 33-year-old native of Trois-Rivieres, Que., has two goals, two assists and 10 penalty minutes in 54 games with the Flyers this season. Bureau previously played with the Flames during the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons. Bureau, 6-1 and 198 pounds, has played in 558 NHL career games over the past 11 seasons recording 134 points (54 goals, 80 assists) and 325 penalty minutes. He has also played in Minnesota, Tampa Bay and Montreal. Brigley, 22, has two assists and four penalty minutes in 17 games with the Flames this season and three goals and one assists in nine games with the AHL Saint John Flames. The Flyers said Bureau was expendable. "We just felt that Peter White, Todd White and Steve Washburn as centremen have all come up and played for us decently and we feel all of them can do the job for us, so we are covered there," said Flyers GM Bob Clarke. "When our team is healthy we are going to have two extra forwards." The Flyers, meanwhile, recalled Peter White and defenceman Mark Eaton from the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL. Defenceman Chris Therien will miss the team's game in Tampa on Wednesday because of the recent death of his mother-in-law. He is expected to be back in Philadelphia's lineup Thursday against Washington.
