Career Highlights:Highlights from the NHL career of Maurice (Rocket) Richard:Signed -- By Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 29, 1942. First all-star team -- 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1955, 1956. Second all-star team -- 1944, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1957. Hart Trophy (league MVP) -- 1947. Leading goal-scorer -- 1945, 1947, 1950, 1954, 1955. Stanley Cups -- Eight. 50 goals -- First player in NHL history to score 50 goals in one season (March 18, 1945). Fiftieth goal came in his 50th game of the season, a pace not matched until Wayne Gretzky in 1980-81. Athlete of the year -- Three-time winner (1952, 1957 and 1958) of the Canadian athlete of year award as handed out by The Canadian Press. 500 goals -- First player to score 500 goals in his career (Oct. 19, 1957). Hall of Fame -- Inducted in 1961 after the Hall waived the normal three-year waiting period following retirement.
