Wednesday, October 20, 1999 Blue sign EllettST. LOUIS (CP) -- The St. Louis Blues have signed free-agent defenceman Dave Ellett.Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 15-year veteran joins his fifth NHL team after stops in Winnipeg, Toronto, New Jersey and Boston. Ellett, 35, signed as a free agent with the Bruins in 1997, collected three goals and 20 assists in 82 games that year before registering six assists in 54 games last season. The six-foot-two, 205-pound Ellett was a third-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in 1982. He spent over six seasons with the Jets before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was part of the '97 deal with New Jersey that saw the Leafs send Ellett, Doug Gilmour and a third-round pick to the Devils for Jason Smith, Steve Sullivan and Alyn McCauley.
