CROWDED INFIRMARY: Maple Leafs rookie Nik Antropov will miss at least two games because of an arm injury suffered in a 3-1 loss in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Antropov injured his left elbow when the Penguins' Matthew Barnaby hauled him down, causing the Kazakh to crash into the Pittsburgh goal. Antropov will be out of the lineup against Philadelphia tomorrow and Edmonton on Saturday. Four other players were on the sidelines when the Leafs practised at the Air Canada Centre yesterday. Defencemen Bryan Berard and Danny Markov were nursing undisclosed injuries and are listed as questionable for the Flyers game in Philadelphia. Veteran defenceman Dmitry Yushkevich had a day off to rest and centre Igor Korolev, who was absent when the team photo was taken before practice, had the day off for personal reasons. OWNER'S COMMENTS: When Leafs chairman Steve Stavro showed up for the team photo yesterday, he didn't have any choice words for general manager/coach Pat Quinn concerning the team's 2-5-2 slump. "Steve's great. He doesn't say a lot to me about the team. But when he does, it is nothing but positive," Quinn said. EAST-WEST RELATIONS: The subject of scrapping interconference play, supported by teams such as the Calgary Flames, came up yesterday. Quinn believes the idea has potential. "It will take a lot of discussion," he said. "It's interesting. It will eliminate a lot of the travel. Off the top of my head, I would say yes. "There are a lot of questions though. Will the fans want to see the Western Conference teams? Will it develop rivalries better?" SUPER SKILLS: Tickets for the Leafs' annual Fed Ex/NHL SuperSkills competition Sunday, Jan. 30, are on sale. At the event, the Leafs compete in six categories, including puck-control relay, skating speed, hardest shots, rapid-fire shooting, shooting accuracy and breakaway relay. Proceeds from the event will be divided among four charities -- the Leafs Community Fund, Hockey Fights Cancer, FedEx Cares and the NHL Players' Association fund to benefit minor hockey. Tickets are available through TicketMaster at (416) 870-8000. Group bookings can be made by calling the Leafs at (416) 815-5783.
