    A raise for Potvin?

VANCOUVER (CP) -- Goalie Felix Potvin has been instrumental in backstopping the Vancouver Canucks' improbable post-all-star break run toward a Western Conference playoff spot.

After winning just once in his first nine starts since being acquired Dec. 19 in a multi-player trade with the New York Islanders, Potvin had gone 11-8-3 before Wednesday's game against Los Angeles. And with the 28-year-old stopper scheduled to become a restricted free agent July 1, his agent Jay Fee has some leverage in hopes of securing a sizeable raise on Potvin's $2.7-million US contract.

"To tell you the truth I'm not even thinking about that -- I'm caught up in the playoff race right now," Potvin told the Vancouver Province. "I'm having so much fun. I'm happy with the way I'm playing and we're so close (to the playoffs) with three games to go, but I can't be satisfied yet. I'll worry about the business side in the summer."
