Monday, August 14, 2000 Canucks sign Scott LachanceVANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Free agent defenseman Scott Lachance has agreed to terms with the Vancouver Canucks.In 57 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season, Lachance had six assists and 22 penalty minutes. Lachance was originally drafted by the New York Islanders, fourth overall, in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He played with New York from 1991-92 until 1998-99. He was traded to Montreal on March 9, 1999, for a draft choice. Lachance has played in 524 NHL games, with 27 goals, 86 points and 381 penalty minutes. He represented the Islanders at the 1997 NHL All-Star game. Lachance also played for Team USA at the World Junior Championships in 1990 and 1991; at the World Hockey Championships in 1996, 1997 and 1999; and at the 1992 Olympics.
