Tuesday, February 22, 2000 Canucks recall Kariya from AHLVANCOUVER (CP) -- The Vancouver Canucks have recalled rookie left-winger Steve Kariya from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.Kariya, a native of North Vancouver and the younger brother of NHL star Paul Kariya of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, was sent down to the Crunch on Jan. 28 and in 10 games with the team had 11 goals and five assists. He also set a team record with four goals in one game. In 43 games for the Canucks this season, Kariya registered eight goals and 11 assists, with a plus-9 rating. The Canucks also recalled centre Josh Holden from Syracuse, where he had 14 goals and 24 assists in 32 games. In two appearances for the Canucks this season, Holden had a goal and an assist.
