    Markus Naslund NHL player of the week

     NEW YORK (CP) -- Vancouver Canucks left-winger Markus Naslund is the NHL's player of the week after scoring three goals and adding five assists in three games last week.
     
     Naslund led all scorers in the league and carried a plus-minus of plus-two through those three games.
     
     Naslund edged Detroit Red Wings defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom (one goal, seven assists, plus-two in four games), Florida Panthers right-winger Pavel Bure (five goals, two asstists in three games), St. Louis Blues goaltender Roman Turek (2-0-0, 1.50 g.a.a., .952 save percentage, one shutout) and Anaheim Mighty Ducks goaltender Guy Hebert (2-0-1, 1.62 GAA, .947 save percentage) for his first player of the week award.
     
     Naslund began the week by tallying an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings on March 13.
     
     He notched two power-play goals, including the game-winner, and added two assists in a 6-3 home victory over the Buffalo Sabres on March 16.
     
     Naslund finished the week by tallying a goal and two assists in a 6-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
     
     The 26-year-old native of Ornskoldsvik, Sweden has 24 goals and 33 assists in 72 games this season, leading the Canucks in goals and points.
     
     By earning five of a possible six points last week, the Canucks improved to 10th place in the Western Conference playoff race with 72 points (25-33-14-8) in 72 games.
