Messier's house survives hurricane Floyd
VANCOUVER (CP) -- Canucks centre Mark Messier braced for the worst with hurricane Floyd bearing down on his family's million-dollar compound in Hilton Head, S.C., on Wednesday.But Messier was breathing easier Thursday when he learned the brunt of the storm wreaked havoc elsewhere.
"Some trees are down and there's a little flooding but most of it (damage) was up north," Messier told the Vancouver Province. "We dodged a bullet. We had 50-mile-per-hour winds with rain but nothing too dramatic."
