- The Scarecrows are the world's first self-proclaimed "roll" band. Dismayed by the musical poverty of "rock" music, The Scarecrows have made it their mission to put the "roll" back into "rock and roll". They have scoured the music of the past century, isolating and containing its roll elements. Otis Redding once described The Scarecrows as "haaard roll with a kick in the crotch". .. The Scarecrows got their start in Windsor, Ontario, a hard-bitten factory town with more soul than a shoe store. Guitarists Sasha Kaye and Matthew Gordon, organist / harmonica player Dragan Bozanich, and bassist Paul Loncke have been playing together since high school. While there can be no doubt that the band has been influential, the rumours that these four taught the Tragically Hip everything they know are unsubstantiated. ... With the addition of drummer Jacob Marcelloni in 1996, The Scarecrows have completed the construction of their distinctive sound which Sly of the Family Stone referred to in his famous quote as "post-apocalyptic blues". Playing in and around Windsor, The Scarecrows are planning a musical assault on Canada and the world, which cannot but shake the global infrastructure to its foundations. ...
