TORONTO -- In the wake of last week's surprise market withdrawal of wonder drug Vioxx, scientists yesterday questioned the safety of the entire class of arthritis drugs known as Cox-2 inhibitors. In commentaries rushed to print online by the New England Journal of Medicine, experts suggested the increased risk of heart attack and stroke that prompted Vioxx's withdrawal may also be true across the entire class of the wildly successful drugs.
