HONG KONG -- A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck early today near India's Andaman Islands, an area repeatedly hit by aftershocks following the massive temblor and tsunami that devastated the region last week, the Hong Kong Observatory said. The quake, centred about 690 kilometres northwest of the Indonesian city of Banda Aceh, was recorded in Hong Kong at 3:20 a.m., the observatory said.
