Troops, extremists in West Bank faceoff

Thousands of Israeli troops, including anti-riot units, took up positions today to evacuate two West Bank settlements where about 2,000 Jewish extremists were holed up with an arsenal of weapons, determined to foil the last stage of Israel's historic "disengagement" from the Palestinians.
