Fedorov offered $40M
The Detroit Red Wings have offered Sergei Fedorov a four-year, $40-million US contract, an NHL source told the Detroit Free Press.
General manager Ken Holland declined to comment, and agent Pat Brisson would not comment on the numbers, the newspaper said.
Numbers up for TSN
TSN's coverage of the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs drew the largest NHL postseason audience in the network's 19-year history. TSN drew an average audience of 486,000 viewers for 26 games. This marks a 68 per cent increase (average 289,000 viewers) from 1998, the last time TSN televised the NHL playoffs.
Brodeur divorce sought
The wife of New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur has filed for divorce, seeking custody of their four children, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. Speaking after Monday night's loss in Ottawa, the star goalie said he was unaware of the court proceeding. Brodeur found himself having to answer questions about his private life after a story on his marriage in a Quebec tabloid.
