Lorne Rubenstein book: The Toronto golf writer, a regular guest on The Golf Channel and Canadian TV shows, is writing Mike Weir: The Road to the Masters. Rubenstein says he first called Weir before the Masters to pitch a book called A Season in the Majors: Mike Weir in Pursuit of Golf's Ultimate Prize. The title changed when Weir won at Augusta.
"We're leaving room for the other majors but I'm focusing on Augusta and his path there," Rubenstein says of the booking being published by McClelland & Stewart in the fall.
This week: Weir is home in Draper, Utah, returning to the PGA Tour for the Memorial during May 29-June 1.
Who got the flag: Tradition on the tour is the caddy of the player winning a tournament takes home the flag on the 18th green. In the case of Weir's win at the Masters, that would be Brennan Little. Since Weir won a playoff with Len Mattiace on the 10th, Little took the flag from the 10th green to his Dallas home.
Presidents Cup points: Through May 11, Ernie Els leads the international team with 8.94 points. Weir is second with 6.83.
Odds: Weir is 100-to-1 to win another major this year, 7-to-1 to beat Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open is at Chicago's Olympia Fields during June 12-15.
