MONTREAL -- Orlando Cabrera scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th on a wild pitch as the Montreal Expos rallied from an 8-2 deficit yesterday to down the Atlanta Braves 9-8. Vladimir Guerrero hit his first homer in five games since coming off the disabled list Monday, and red-hot Michael Barrett hit a two-out, three-run homer in the eighth for the Expos (53-50), who won their third straight for the first time since winning six in a row from June 5-11.

Chipper Jones, Javy Lopez and Vinny Castilla homered for the first-place Braves (67-35), who lost for only the fourth time in 19 games.

The crowd of 10,069 was the Expos' 11th crowd of 10,000-plus in 33 games at Olympic Stadium, and the first where there was no promotional giveaway since 36,879 turned out for the Montreal home opener April 22.

Luis Ayala (7-2) pitched two scoreless innings for his first win since coming off the disabled list on Monday.

Expos starter Claudio Vargas allowed four runs off 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out three with no walks. Ramirez pitched 7 1/3 innings of five-hit ball, allowing three runs with five walks -- one intentional -- and three strikeouts.

After the return of slugger Guerrero and reliever Ayala Monday, another name will be taken off the Expos disabled list when righty Zach Day takes the hill today against Atlanta righty Shane Reynolds.

Day went on the DL with an inflamed right shoulder May 31 and has missed 50 games since. He has a 4-3 record with a 3.44 ERA this season, and opponents are batting .241 against him.
