TYBEE ISLAND, GA. -- Sandra Bullock -- whose pool builder was fined for encroaching into a dunes area without a permit -- is committed to safeguarding the environment around her Tybee Island property, her publicist said. Cheryl Maisel said the environment is so important to Bullock "that she purchased the undeveloped land around the property so it would not be developed."

A tiny portion of the pool crosses the line into the protected zone, said Jeannie Butler, who handles enforcement related to the state's Shore Protection Act. The law requires approval for construction and landscaping in a protected zone. Bullock's films include Speed, Forces of Nature and Two Weeks Notice.
