Some of Canada's newest jewelry designers are making a stop in London to play a little game of "show and sell." Fused Elements is an exhibition featuring the work of new graduates from the goldsmithing and design program at Georgian College in Barrie. It includes a variety of jewelry -- both individual pieces and sets -- handcrafted from metals, such as titanium, as well as gold.
"They've got quite a broad array of jewelry. Some of it's fairly conservative, and some of it's very, very modern," said Ron Scammell, manager of Nash Jewellers' north location, where the two-week showcase will be held for the third year.
The two-week show opens Friday with a reception, where artists will be available to discuss their work.
"It gives the graduates a chance to get out there in the public and show their stuff," said Scammell.
It's the commercial debut for many of the designers, although some of them have already won awards for their work as students.
The artists set the prices for their own work -- anywhere from about $50 to $500 -- and all proceeds go back to them.
