TORONTO -- Winter in the Northern Woods, described as Group of Seven founder Lawren Harris's largest and one of his most important works, sold for $1.5 million at yesterday's spring auction held by Sotheby's Canada in association with Ritchies Auctioneers. Clarence Gagnon's Landscape in Baie St. Paul went for more than $600,000, but still another high-profile work, Onontaha, by Marc-Aurele de Foy Suzor-Cote, was withdrawn when bidding stalled at $250,000.
