While studying for an organic chemistry test five years ago, it hit Josh Ritter: He wasn't cut out for a life of science like his neuroscientist parents and computer scientist brother. "I was never interested in science," says the affable singer-songwriter, on the line from his parents' home in Idaho. "Being able to make up something, to me, felt more natural."
