OHL announces Academic Players of the Month
The Ontario Hockey League today announced the OHL Academic Players of the Month for January.
West Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the West Division is defenceman Brad Good of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Hockey Club. Good, 18, a native of Kitchener, Ontario, is a first year student at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie.
Midwest Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the Midwest Division is defenceman Scott Aarssen of the London Knights. Aarssen, 17, a native of London, Ontario, is currently a Grade 12 student at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in London.
Central Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the Central Division is defenceman Ryan Crouch of the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club. Crouch, 18, a native of Garson, Ontario, is currently a first year student at Laurentian University in Sudbury.
East Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the East Division is goaltender Danny Battochio of the Ottawa 67's. Battochio, 20, a native of Sudbury, Ontario, is in his second year of a two year police foundation program at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
Each month, the OHL recognizes a player from each Division who is striving to reach his full potential in his educational program while playing in the Ontario Hockey League.
More than 97% of the players currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League are attending high school or post-secondary institutions. More than 400 OHL graduates are currently attending Canadian universities and colleges on scholarships from their OHL teams.
