OHL Performers of the Month

Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the OHL Performers of the Month for February.

OHL Player of the Month - Wojtek Wolski, Brampton Battalion
Wolski was named the OHL's top player for the third straight month after leading the league with 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 11 games. He recorded multiple points in all but one game last month, including a four point effort against the Sudbury Wolves on February 19 and a five-point game against the Toronto St. Michael's Majors on February 23. Wolski is Brampton's all-time leading scorer and is sixth in the OHL scoring race with 36 goals and 62 assists for 98 points in 47 games this season.

OHL Rookie of the Month - John Tavares, Oshawa Generals
Tavares was named OHL rookie of the month for the third consecutive month after scoring nine goals and adding six assists for 15 points in 11 games in February. Tavares had five multiple point games last month, including his second hat trick of the season on February 15 against the Guelph Storm. Tavares leads all OHL rookies with 41 goals and is second with 67 points in 56 games. He is the first OHL rookie to score 40 or more goals in the past seven seasons.

Defenceman of the Month - Patrick McNeill, Saginaw Spirit
Saginaw's captain was named the OHL's top defenceman for February after scoring six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 12 games. He also compiled a plus-7 plus-minus rating in February. McNeill is the top scoring blueliner in the OHL this season with 20 goals and 50 assists for 70 points in 59 games. He was Saginaw's first overall pick in the OHL Priority Selection in 2003.

Goaltender of the Month - Dan Turple, Kitchener Rangers
Turple strung together a 9-2-0-0 record along with a 1.77 goals against average and ..940 save percentage in 11 games with the Rangers. He was named OHL goaltender of the month for the second straight month. Turple allowed more than two goals on just one occasion last month and allowed just one goal in five games. Turple improved to 36-13-1-1 this season and lowered his league-leading goals against average to 2.25 in 51 games. Turple also has a league-best .924 save percentage and is tied for the league lead with five shutouts this season.
