McGrath Named OHL Player of the Week
Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Kitchener
Rangers forward Evan McGrath is the OHL Player of the Week.
McGrath, 19, drafted by the Rangers in the first round, 12th overall in
the 2002 OHL Priority Selection recorded five goals and four assists in
a pair of wins over Western Conference rivals. On Friday night, McGrath
had two goals and three assists in a 9-2 win over Windsor. McGrath
followed up that strong performance with a hat-trick and an assist in a
6-3 victory over Guelph yesterday.
McGrath, a fourth round draft choice of the Detroit Red Wings in the
2004 NHL Entry Draft finished seventh in OHL scoring last season with 28
goals and 87 points. With nine points in two games, McGrath is the
early scoring leader in 2005-06.
