TORONTO - The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Sudbury Wolves
defenceman Marc Staal is the OHL Player of the Week.
Staal, 18, drafted by the Wolves 2nd overall in the 2003 OHL Priority
Selection recorded two goals and five assists in a pair of wins over
Eastern Conference rivals. Staal was held off the score sheet in a loss
to Barrie to open the week but then caught fire. On Friday night, he
had three assists in a 6-2 win over Oshawa. Staal then put on a show
with a four-point afternoon yesterday, contributing with a pair of goals
as well as a pair of assists in a 7-4 win over Peterborough. Despite
missing Sudbury's opening game this season, Staal's eight points

Staal, a first round draft choice of the New York Rangers in the 2005
NHL Entry Draft was recently named captain of the Wolves and will be
vying for a spot on the Canadian Junior Team that will look to defend
its goal medal in Vancouver.
