Bobby Ryan Named OHL Player of the Week
Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Owen Sound Attack forward Bobby Ryan is the OHL Player of the Week.
Ryan, 18, drafted by the Attack 7th overall in the 2003 OHL Priority Selection recorded two goals and seven assists in a pair of wins last week as the Attack improved to 4-2-0-0 on the season. Ryan had a goal and five assists in a 10-7 win over Oshawa on Saturday night and was named the First Star of the Game. Ryan's five assists tied a franchise record and his six points was just one off the club record. Yesterday, Ryan tallied a goal and added two assists in a 5-1 win over Mississauga and was named the Second Star of the Game. Ryan has now contributed at least one point in each of the five games he has played in so far this season.
Ryan, selected 2nd overall by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft is currently 3rd in the OHL scoring race. The Collingswood, NJ native took part in the Team USA National Junior Evaluation Camp this past August and will be looking for the chance to represent his country this winter at the World Junior Championships in Vancouver.
