CHL announces OHL rosters for the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge

Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League today announced the rosters of players for team OHL who will compete in Kitchener on November 24 and Peterborough on November 28 at the 2005 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge.

Team OHL includes first round NHL draft picks Benoit Pouliot (MIN '05, 4th) and Marc Staal (NYR '05, 12) of the Sudbury Wolves, Ryan O'Marra (NYI '05, 15) of the Erie Otters and Ryan Parent (NSH '05, 18) of the Guelph Storm. It also includes a total of 10 players who were invited to the Summer Evaluation Camp for the National Junior Team.

The selection committee consisted of Allan Millar (Sarnia Sting), Jeff Twohey (Peterborough Petes) and Blair Mackasey (Hockey Canada).

"This is one of the most prestigious series on our annual calendar and we are looking forward to watching many of the stars in the Ontario Hockey League compete against the Russian Selects," said OHL Commissioner David Branch. "With the World Junior Championships in Canada this year the spotlight will be even brighter on this years ADT Canada Russia series as all the players vie for a position on Team Canada."

The Drummondville Voltigeurs will host the first game of the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge on November 21. The second game will be hosted by the Moncton Wildcats on November 23. The Kitchener Rangers will host the first OHL-based game on November 24 followed by the Peterborough Petes on November 28. The series will conclude in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades hosting on November 30 and the Regina Pats hosting the finale on December 1.

All six games will be broadcast nationally on Rogers Sportsnet and the two QMJHL-hosted games will be broadcast in Quebec on RDS.
