    Kwiatkowski replaces Lipinski

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Tonia Kwiatkowski, the fourth-place finisher at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January, will replace Olympic champion Tara Lipinski at the world championships.
Lipinski withdrew this week because of a glandular infection and has been advised by her physician to rest.
Kwiatkowski, 27, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, will be making her third appearance at worlds. She was eighth in 1996 and did not get through the preliminary qualifying round in 1993.
"Tonia has been training for the last few weeks with the idea she might be needed to go to the world championships," said Carol Heiss Jenkins, her coach. "She is in good shape and anxious to perform at worlds."
Kwiatkowski is expected to turn pro after worlds, which run from March 31-April 5.
Also on the U.S. women's team are Olympic silver medalist Michelle Kwan and Nicole Bobek.
