Named after his hometown of Brockville, Brock Miron began speed skating when he was 14 years of age. A good athlete growing up, he played hockey, soccer and volleyball. But in 1994, Miron and his brother began to focus exclusively on speed skating.

Eventually, Miron moved to Calgary to train with the Canadian Olympic team and also to work part-time at Calgary's Olympic Oval. His current coach is Sean Ireland, who is also coach and brother of veteran Canadian Olympic speed skater Mike Ireland.

Early in his career Miron enjoyed moderate success. In 2000, at the World Junior Championships, he finished 12th overall. In 2001, at a Canada Cup event, he had a third-place finish and later that year a second-place finish.

His career highlights to date are a first-place finish at the Canadian Sprint Championships and a gold medal at a 500m B Division World Cup race in Inzell, Germany.

This year, Miron placed 18th and 15th in 500m races at a World Cup event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also snagged a 20th-place finish in the 1000m race at another World Cup event, this one in Salt Lake City, Utah.

When not skating, Brock enjoys reading and writing. He's a big fan of the science fiction and fantasy genres and cites The Lord of the Rings Trilogy among his favourite books.
