Edmonton's Jaime Fortier is another member of women's team who achieved a big step by qualifying for the 1998 Olympics. Fortier, 21, was part of Canada's best ever seventh place finish in the relay at the 1996 world junior championships and has been improving steadily ever since. Last year at the national championships she was part of the winning relay team and placed second in the 30 kilometre freestyle.
