    Norwegians sweep World Cup cross country races

     LAGO DI TESERO, Italy (AP) -- Norway's Bjorn Daehlie, the defending men's overall champion, and teammate Bente Martinsen won World Cup cross country races today to increase their leads in the season standings.
     Daehlie won the men's 10-kilometer race in 25 minutes, 8.08 seconds, beating countryman Sture Sivertsen by 22.5 seconds. Kazakstan's Vladimir Smirnov was third in 25:31.8. Daehlie, a two-time winner this season, has 232 points in the overall standings, 92 more than Smirnov.
     Marcus Nash of Fryeburg, Maine, finished 24th in 26:29.2, and John Bauer of Champlin, Minn., was 54th in 27:08.5.
     Martinsen won the women's 5-kilometer race in 13:28.7, beating teammate Anita Moen-Guidon by 18.1 seconds. Russia's Larissa Lazutina was third, another 0.7 seconds back.
     Martinsen, also a two-time winner this season, has 280 points in the overall standings. Moen-Guidon is second with 185.
     Italy's Manuel Di Centa, a two-time World Cup titlist and winner of five medals in the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics, returned to action after a 10-month layoff because of a series of injuries. She finished 17th in 14:16.7.
     Nina Kemppel of Anchorage, Alaska, was 54th in 14:50.1, and Kerrin Petty of Townshend, Vt., finished 60th in 14:58.4.
