  • Andy Capicik - Freestyle Skiing

It was a spectacular comeback season for aerialist Andy Capicik in 1996-97. After two seasons without winning a World Cup medal the 24-year-old Toronto resident stepped twice on the podium and placed third in the overall Word Cup standings. He showed it was all no fluke taking home another bronze at the world championships. Capicik burst on the international stage back in 1993 when he won the only World Cup gold medal of his career in Blackcomb, B.C. He performed well the following season including a fourth at the Lillehammer Olympics. But the next two seasons were meagre for a struggling Capicik. More emphasis on dry-land and water ramp training over the summer was a big key to Capicik's re-emergence.
