    DOMINICK GAUTHIER

Dominick Gauthier, upset the Olympic champion and the number-two skier in the world (teammates Jean-Luc Brassard and Stephane Rochon), to claim the Canadian crown in men's moguls this past spring. It capped Gauthier's finest season since 1993-94 when he placed seventh in the overall World Cup standings. Gauthier, a 24-year-old eight-year national team member, has been plagued with knee injuries for the past several seasons. Still last year he placed eighth at the world championships and was ninth on the World Cup circuit with six top-10 finishes.
