    CAROLINE OLIVIER

Caroline Olivier of Cap-Rouge, Que., is a great model of perseverance. She has overcome two serious knee operations (one on each leg) to become one of the world's top women aerialists. The courageous 26-year-old, became the first woman to land the double full full also known as the double flip with three twists in competition. It earned her World Cup victories in Blackbcomb and Austria last season for third overall. In fact Olivier, her teammate Veronica Brenner and Australia's Kirstie Marshall were the only three women to win gold medals in aerials last season in international competition.
Olivier is another athlete who uses visualization as an important part of her training. The technique, popularized by figure skater Liz Manley at the 1988 Calgary Olympics, is especially important for Olivier in terms of generating self-confidence. She was in down times when she suffered her two major injuries. Her current coach, boyfriend and advisor is Dominic LaRoche, a world-class freestyler in the 1980's and a member of the famous skiing family.
