  • Stephane Rochon - Freestyle Skiing

Stephane Rochon may be the only man who can beat Olympic, world and World Cup champion Jean-Luc Brassard. Currently number-two in the world in men's moguls, a slow start last season probably cost Rochon the overall World Cup crown and an opportunity to emerge from Brassard's large shadow.
The 23-year-old St-Sauveur, Que., resident waged some epic battles against Brassard in 1996-97. He was runner-up to the Olympic champion at the world championships, a mere 1.52 points from gold. On the World Cup, he was in contention for the Crystal Globe until the final meet of the year but fell short again by eight points.
"What I gained in experience last season made up for what I lost in winning top honors," said Rochon, who did not win a World Cup event last season after three victories and fourth overall in 1995-96 . "I learned to manage the pressure quite well and that can only help at the Olympic Games."
