Sunday, January 18, 1998 Segura wins giant slalomSAN CANDIDO, Italy (AP) -- Christophe Segura, making a final push for a spot on France's Olympic team, won a snowboard World Cup giant slalom Sunday.Segura was fastest in both runs down the icy course at the site of last year's World Championships, clocking a total time of 2 minutes, 48.12 seconds. Austria's Peter Pechhacker was second at 2:50.51, .18 seconds ahead of Willi Trakofler of Italy. Frenchmen Nicolas Conte (3,600) and Matthieu Bozzetto (2,980) -- who skipped Sunday's race -- lead the season standings. Christopher Klug of the United States is third with 2,608 points after finishing eighth Sunday at 2:52.64.
