Stojko has been advised by doctors to take some time off, but the Richmond Hill skater will travel to Hawaii next month to be a judge at the Miss Universe Pageant. "He's looking forward to that," said Ed Futerman, Stojko's manager and legal adviser. Futerman said Stojko's groin injury has improved significantly since he pulled out of the Champions On Ice tour earlier this month, but will play it safe until he's 100%. "They did another MRI and the inflammation is almost completely gone," Futerman said. "There's still some minor inflammation that requires a little more treatment." The Toronto lawyer said his client will stay in shape by working out at home on a rowing machine, lifting weights and doing situps. When the injury is healed, the three-time world champion will rejoin the Champions tour. In the meantime, he's catching up on charity work and getting some much-needed rest. "It's something he desperately needs," Futerman said. "Other than the few days he took off the other week (in the Caribbean), he hasn't taken a vacation in three years." Futerman said Stojko is kicking around ideas for a new long program for next year, although he didn't tip his hand as to whether Stojko will remain an amateur or turn pro. |
