Skaters sort out dispute over marketing rights

OTTAWA (CP) -- Skaters Shae-Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz have settled their dispute over marketing rights with the Canadian Figure Skating Association.
The ice dancers had been left off the national team after refusing to sign the association's athletes' agreement, saying it unfairly infringed on their right to market themselves.
The agent for the skaters said the association had wanted to use team photos without getting the skaters' approval.
On Friday, the association said the dispute had been settled.
"The CFSA is happy that a mutual agreement had been reached that will see the dance duo pursue their competitive goal in the coming season," it said in a statement.
An association spokesman declined to detail the settlement, except to say a clause in the Bourne-Kraatz agreement had been changed. Other athlete agreements had remained the same, she added.
