    Last lap for skaters

By RYAN PYETTE -- Calgary Sun
Canadian Olympic speed skaters Susan Auch and Neal Marshall will announce their retirement next Wednesday at an Olympic Oval press conference.
However, Auch and Marshall will remain involved in their sport through the bright lights of television.
Marshall, 29, has accepted the position of speed skating analyst for the new CTV SportsNet channel, which premieres Oct. 9 across Canada. SportsNet begins its speed skating coverage in January, 1999.
Auch, 32, a double Olympic silver medallist, is expected to accept the position of speed skating analyst for CBC Sports.
Auch, who is sponsored by Reactin, will honor her commitment with the allergy medication company.
"We'll still train just to keep in shape," said Marshall, "but other than that, we're done."
Marshall said the couple's experience in competitive speed skating will help translate the sport to the viewers.
"Being a commentator is really something I thought I could do," said Marshall. "I used to watch replays of the races, and as a skater, I thought there were some insights I could have made that would've helped the commentary."
The Olympic Oval will also release details of the Summer Speed Skating Classic Aug. 14-16. The Classic is expected to draw many of the medallists from the Nagano Games.
